THEME: "ONE STUDENT ONE SKILL"

The Post Primary Schools Management Board Enugu through the Enugu State Government in collaboration with the CEDI and UTOLF, has kicked-off a joint One Month Free Skills Festival.

The flag-off was done by the Hon Commissioner for Education Prof Uche Eze who represented His Excellency Rt Hon Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, alongside the host Dr Mrs. Favor Ugwuanyi, mni, Prof Sola Adebanjo from NIPSS, Directors, mentors and facilitators.

The Hon Commissioner for Education said that an idea has been germinated. Hence, One Student One Skill. In the recent, globalization skills have become very necessary while Certificate is being emphasized, skills are being promoted. He promised that this idea will go down to the primary schools. For a nation to be self-reliant, it must diversify its economy, as well as encourage the youth to embrace self- employment that facilitates skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.  In a special way, he appreciated the Permanent Secretary PPSMB Enugu State, saying that her training at NIPSS is a blessing to Enugu State Education sector and the country in general.

He finally congratulated the management of PPSMB Enugu as well as the trainees and expressed optimism that the expected outcomes would be of benefit to all the trainees and the state in general.

The beneficiaries of the program were students from different schools in the six Education Zones of the State. They were specifically allocated to instructors according to their different areas of interest which include: Barbing, Shoe making, Fashion Designing, Hair Dressing, Graphics Design, Mechanic and other skills.

SKILL FEST

Skill fest is a One Student One Skill Event that is organized during school vacation period. It is targeted towards giving our students a sense of industry. In the course of this programmed, small and medium scale business owners are paid to train our mentees on specific skill areas. At the end of the training, students who are able to show a good understanding of the skills are granted access to our Free-lance Skill acquisition center where they can make use of our equipment’s to deliver on Jobs for free. The event is totally free for all students.

NB:  Any student who is interested in the learning of the skills should come to the PPSMB Headquarters Enugu from 8am to 12pm everyday Monday to Friday.
