This admonition came during a two-day workshop organized by PPSMB for Principals and Bursars of public secondary schools in Enugu State tagged; "Strategic Financial Management".

The Resource persons, Mr Ameen Abdulraafiu and Dr. Peter Oyintoke, (FELLOW OF CIISM) respectively, talked on, Public Finance Management & Accountability in schools and the Roles of Principals and Bursars /Strategic Financial Management.

In his teaching during the training, Mr Ameen Abdulraafiu thought them some key components of public finance management, which are Planning & budgeting, Revenue mobilisation, Expenditures controls and Accountability.

He maintained that any government finance officer is saddled with the responsibilities of ensuring effective and efficient public finance management, so to this effect, schools must keep adequate accounting record and book of accounts.

Furthermore, he said that to ensure checks and balances, every government establishments' Bank Account must require two signatories for its operation. He maintained that a sole signatory to a School Bank Account is therefore illegal.

Then on strategic financial management, SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Treat) analysis was used to illustrate the importance of strategic financial management.

Dr. Ada. Peter, also said that leadership & government, good financial management & staff training on financial management are some of the financial strategic management rkey area.

He argued the participants to always plan, because planning is a road map and part of financial management.

Speaking to the Principals and Bursars during the workshop via whattsapp call, the Executive Chairman of PPSMB, Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi (mni FCISM) thanked the Principals and Bursars for coming out In their numbers to attend the training. She argued everyone to get involve in the journey towards rebranding of PPSMB.

Furthermore, Dr. Ugwuanyi in her words told them that she believes that at the end of the training, "All of you will come out better in the management of schools resources and finances". End of quote.

The training, which is a two day capacity building workshop continues tomorrow Thursday 7th July 2022 at 9am for school Bursars only.
