PPSMB DIRECTOR WANTS TEACHERS TO BE UP AND DOING


Internal Supervisors in secondary schools in Enugu State are advised to live by example and commit themselves to correcting teachers and students in the schools

The Director, School Supervision Department, Enugu State Post Primary Schools Management Board, PPSMB, Dr. Ezekiel Onah gave the advice when he led a team of PPSMB Supervisors on a monitoring visit to some secondary schools in Enugu East local Government Area.
The Schools visited are Annunciation Secondary School Nkwo Nike, Umuchigbo Community High school, Community High school Emene and Saint Joseph College Emene. Interaction between the visiting team from PPSMB and the internal school supervisors focused in challenges hindering effective supervision in schools, the ways and means to over come them.
The PPSMB team of supervisors also interacted with students and parents who were around during which some students claimed that some subject teachers were playing truancy.
Reacting to the claim, Dr. Onah urged form teachers to be up and doing in checking teachers and monitoring their lesson notes to enhance teaching and learning.
Some of the teachers appealed for even-handed on the part of members of staff of PPSMB while dealing with teachers who visit the headquarters. They also recommended that annual award - giving day for teachers should be instituted to motivate them.
The PPSMB Supervisors also visited a DNA center at Ugwuomu where some teachers are being trained on genetics and paternity test. The training which has the support of the Enugu State Government is aimed at acquainting science teachers in the state with current global trends in genetic science.
