PPSMB STAFF: SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND WORK HARMONIOUSLY - OWUBE.


The Education Services and Schools Supervision Departments of Enugu State Post Primary Schools Management Board, PPSMB, are inter-related and sharing of knowledge between them is necessary to facilitate their job.

This was the submission of a resource person and former Director, Education Services in the Board, Mr Obiora Owube (Ozuo-Omee) at orientation and re - orientation of members of staff of the two Departments at the PPSMB Headquarters, Enugu.
He explained that the main goals of the Education Service Department were to ensure all round development of the school child in learning and character through making teaching and learning meaningful and realistic to the child, making the learning environment conducive, providing in-service training such as teachers' forum, seminar, appraisal of job contents and performance, promotion of partnership with NGOs and to make education cost-effective.
In the same vain, The main objectives of the School Supervision Department is "correction aimed at ensuring that the right things are done for the over-all development of the school child not fault- finding with school authorities," Mr Owuba said.
He explained that school supervision was in two fold, external and internal, saying that the external from the board should encourage the internal school supervisors to live up to expectation.
The resource person told workers in the two departments to carryout their duties conscientiously without fear or favour and without asking for financial rewards to realise their objectives.
Mr Owube urged them to see themselves as role models in the ways they talk and dress while in the field, respect themselves to attract respect from others and to obey constituted authorities.
Quoting copiously from the Bible, Book of Samuel, Genesis 12:1and4, Romans13:1,Hebrew 13:12,Luke5:4&5 and 11:28,he said "every authority is ordained by God. Obedience is better than sacrifice."
Mr Owube admonished members of staff of the two departments to back up themselves and their work with prayers, trusting God in order to deliver quality services.
Participants in the event commended the Permanent Secretary PPSMB, Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi mni, for bringing an experienced person like Mr Owube to educate them on the rudiments of their job.
The Director, Education Services, Dr. Ifeyinwa F. Nwankwo stated that he opened up everything they suppose to know about their work and that schools in Enugu State would be the beneficiaries of the knowledge gained.
Similarly, Principal iii, Education Services Department, Mrs. Maureen Christopher said all the members of staff were happy when the Permanent Secretary announced Mr Owube as the resource person because they knew his experience and capability and that they were not disappointed at the end of the day.
The Director, School Supervision, Dr. Ezekiel Onah noted that the offices were felt like orphans when Mr Owube retired, leading to calls for him to be invited from time to time to impact knowledge on the workers for guidance and mentorship and commended the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ugwuanyi mni, for the event.
The training which was initiated by the Permanent secretary after redeploying many members of staff to different offices based on professional callings with the aim of improving service delivery, featured question and answer session to shed light on the operations of the Education Services and Schools Supervision Departments of PPSMB Enugu State.
