STUDENTS: REPORT TRUANT TEACHERS TO PPSMB - PERM. SEC

Students of Ede-Oballa Secondary School in Nsukka Education Zone in Enugu State have been told to report any teacher who fails to attend school and teach them to the State Post Primary Schools Management Board, PPSMB. This, they should do through their parents' telephone numbers.

The Permanent Secretary of the board, Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi who gave the directive during an unscheduled visit to the school with her team released her telephone number to the students to facilitate the reporting.
She took the action apparently to checkmate reported cases of truancy by some secondary school teachers, mainly those in the rural areas of the state.
Most of such teachers are said to reside in the urban centres and attend schools at will.
Dr. Ugwuanyi mni, warned that the attitude would not be allowed to continue as it was detrimental to effective teacher and learning for the better future of the students and the society as envisaged by HE. Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State in his education policy.
The Perm. Sec. however advised SS3 students who were at the verge of leaving the school to study hard to prepare very well for the forth coming SSC and NECO examinations, saying, "these exams will determine your future. "
The Principal of the school, Mr. Clifford Ezeugwu thanked the Perm. Sec. for finding time for the visit and appealed to her for more of it, adding, "your regular visits will inspire us more to do better."
During the visit, Dr. Ugwuanyi mni and her team went round the classrooms and interacted with the students to find out the number of subjects they were taught, took attendance of teachers and cautioned some form teachers who were caught disobeying the PPSMB's 13th commandment.
