THE PERMANENT SECRETARY PPSMB, EVANGELIST DR. FAVOUR UGWUANYI, mni, HELD A VALEDICTORY SESSION WITH PRINCIPALS OF POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE STATE

The Permanent Secretary of Post Primary Schools Management Board, PPSMB, Evangelist Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi, mni, has called on Principals and Teachers of secondary schools in the state to eschew vices and embrace virtures in the discharge of their duties.

Dr. Ugwuanyi made the call while addressing the entire membership of ANCOPPS and Principals of secondary schools in Enugu during a Valedictory Session she held with them in the Board's headquarters recently.
In an exclusive but incisive remarks, she charged the Principals to be above board as they stir the ship of leadership in their respective schools. She observed the common mistakes made by those she labelled the idle minds, who rather than being committed to service were busy peddling rumours against the state government's programmes and policies in the education sector
According to her, the education system of Enugu State government under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has recorded unequalled achievements in several facets including the employment of a huge number of qualified teachers, renovation of secondary school buildings, procurement and supply of teaching and learning materials to different shools across the state, provision of continuous training and capacity building programmes for Principals and Teachers of post primary schools in the state and regular payment of the minimum wage to teachers.
She noted that Governor Ugwuanyi had shown great concern to issues related to the welfare of teachers in the state and observed that the Principals should be grateful to God Almighty for the gift of the Governor who has a listening ear to their yearnings. She acknowledged the fact that the fundamentals of any good leadership stems from a quality and standard education background provided by teachers all over the state.
She mentioned two subject matters that form the basics of the stakeholders forum, including "Appreciation and Forgiveness". These according to her are virtures that propel any living soul to gain more abundantly from his or her orgnisation.
The Permanent Secretary pointed out that soon, the state government may appoint new Board members and admonished the Principals and Teachers to check themselves wherever they may be posted in order to be fully incharge and accountable in office.
In another development, the Permanent Secretary had noted with excitement to the Governor of the state for his unwavering support to the reformation of the education sector. Some of the giant strides recorded include the establishment of ICT Hub, Wellness and Gymnasium centres. The provision of a befitting boardroom, the ongoing construction of a gigantic auditorium for conference and seminars and retirees corner, all in the headquarters of the Board.
Highlights of the forum is the assignment for Principals by the Commissioner for Education which includes the submission of third term workplan, the status report of each school and nominal roll of students and teachers in each post primary school in the state.
She finally enjoined all the school Principals to be a part of the signature projects on going in the board in order to engrave their names in the success story of the education sector of the state's economy.
The Chief Supervising Principals and the Principals of post primary schools in the state were in attendance.
