THIRD TERM RESUMPTION MEETING WITH COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION / WORKSHOP FOR DIRECTORS ,CSPs AND PRINCIPALS.
The Honourable Commissioner for Education Professor Uche Eze has reiterated the state government readiness for improving the system of education in Enugu State.
Prof Uche Eze made the statement during the usual meeting at the beginning of each term with Principals at Queens School Enugu.
The Commissioner started by commending the Permanent Secretary of the board and the staff for the good works they have been doing especially in the area of training. The Principals were not left out in commendation speech.
The Commissioner enumerated the stand of the state government as they usher into the new term on Monday 7/6/2021.He enjoined Principals not to conduct staff meeting on the day of resumption but before Schools resume to give room for kick off test and other things, adding that as soon as the school resumes, the Principals should pay courtesy visit to all the security agencies in their area and ensure they work in harmony.
He told them to put all measures in place that no student shall be seen loitering outside the school or inside the school compound during school hours without exit card.
Also told them not to handover any student to a stranger , the teachers on duty should intensify patrolling measures to ensure that things are going well in schools.
Schools without fence should plant economic trees of their choice around the perimeter of their school, reminding them that the school land belongs to the state government and should be guarded jealously.
On Uniform Examination, Principals were told to upload their students names in the PPSMB Portal except the two exam classes ;JS 3 and SS 3 which will be handled by the ministry of education to avoid migration from one School to another.
Further, Principals should not admit any student without transfer certificate and any Principal who is due for retirement shall be posted to the zone three months before retirement to share experience with the management team at the zone to move the system forward.
Also speaking , the Permanent Secretary Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB) Evang Mrs Favour Ugwuanyi mni exalted the name of God that non is Missing throughout the holiday period, She thanked the Hon Commissioner for his positive representation of education sector in the state executive Council and prayed God to grant him more grace for more work.
The Permanent Secretary advised Principals to create program that will keep students busy and happy in schools, disclosing that She is planning a variety show for the students by the end of the year and may be sponsored..
She emphasized that Principals should work harmoniously with their teachers in other to achieve more result.
The Permanent Secretary used the opportunity to present to the Hon Commissioner the members of the Intervention Team constituted by the board to help in monitoring excesses in schools if any as well as proffer solution to the identified problem, She as well presented the new Principals that started work from February till date. The Commissioner congratulated them for their new office and advised them to deliver the assignment to the best of their ability and knowledge and not to betray the trust bestowed upon them.
The event also featured three hours intensive training on the topic : Peace And Conflict Resolution by a researcher from National Institute for Policy And Strategic Studies (NIPSS) , Professor Shola Adeyanju mni and finally entertainment.
